I live in Nashville, and I have never heard of this dude.... my ex turns out to be a fan, but found him after our associations. If I’m going to look at YouTube for one song for this guy to win me over, what song does it have to be?
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Far From Me is from his first album, called simply John Prine.

It's a beautiful song from a great album, and contains the haunting line "Ain't it funny how an old broken bottle, Looks just like a diamond ring".

Another great song is Clay Pigeons.

I think it's possibly the only song from one of his albums that was written by someone else, in this case the great Blaze Foley.

In my opinion, Prine sings it better than anyone.

John Prine doing a fine job with a Blaze Foley song.

        Enjoy!

I am sorry to report that John Prine is in critical condition after having been hospitalized for Coronavirus. I hope he makes it through.

                Damnit, that's all we need.

I really hope he makes it, although John's last album did have the feeling of a farewell.

"How the hell can a person,
Go to work in the morning,
                Come home in the evening,
                And have nothing to say."
                (Angel From Montgomery)
