OOOOOOOOOOh, Dave -did you ever see them ?

(I just sang along to Claudy Banks ! -I usually sing the Shirley Collins version to the taps in my shower).

I never did get up to Rottingdean. I used to go to the Springfield Arms, next to Preston Park station for my Folk nights.

I had a bit of green eyed envy watching your video...I have never dreamed of being born a millionaire's daughter, but I sure would have liked to have been born into the Copper family -or the Carthy/Watersons for that matter

Saw them at Rottingdean village fete years ago now, and going back even further caught part of their old act at a pub in Lewes...can't remember which now...might've been the Black Horse or the Fruiterers...never went to one of their sell out events though!

Springfield? Know it well...apart from being brought up not far from there (just across the other side of Stanford Avenue), my first wife was from Springfield Road (lower down though just below Beaconsfield Road)...

He released two albums with the band "Short Turn" back in the mid-70's that are sadly impossible to find today. The first album remains one of my favourites.

I never heard the 'Unthank Sisters' before Dave, so thank you for the link.

I like it, and I love the fact that they're young...but have obviously been weaned on the 'Silly Sisters' (Maddy Prior -of Steeleye Span- and June Tabor).

The Silly Sisters were a big influence for me, too..

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2010 film 'Winter's Bone' ( some echos of' Deliverence') -and not least for the soundtrack...on which Merideth Sisco featured.

I bought the album which is just fabulous. Actually my fave tracks 'Winter's Bone' (Dicon Hinchcliffe ?) and 'Bred and Buttererd' (John Hawkes -who plays Uncle Teardrop in the fim, don't actually feature in the film, and I can't find them on youtube.

I have found the John Hawkes song now -I love it; He is singing from the point of view of the missing person/invisible person in the film.

Yes...I saw June Tabor at the Springfield...at least once...I think twice... (though the second time might be at the Stanford Arms at Preston Circus...my memory's a bit dim)...I've got to be honest though, I think they're actually a lot better than the Silly Sisters!
