Hello everyone!!

Ripperology can be a wonderful place filled with friendship. It can also be a place filled with back stabbing and lunacy. I have experienced both sides of this in my time.

I do think that when the idea of a cabal was first touted it was laughed down because there was a mistaken idea that people who had a shared belief that certain idea was not correct was in fact for a concerted effort to distort the truth. Nonetheless there are instances of genuine friendships on the board, perhaps formed with people who are more likely to share ones beliefs and hence support each others views? Personally I dont think i have ever posted boasting someone up because of a friendship when I didnt agree with what they were saying (however i have refrained from disagreeing for that reason). I also have found it perfectly agreeable to get on well with someone whilst publicly arguing with them. I also like to think there are a fair few examples of people who i am friendly with who i definatly do not agree with about certian Rippery things.

As long ago as 2000 when i first got interested in Ripperology people emailed me about stuff happening on CB. At the time i definitely felt they wanted me to post their opinion for them on here like it was mine. In retrospect maybe they were just trying to be helpful. Its always been cut throat (please excuse my appalling pun).

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes in Ripperology - people out to get other people, people lying to get their ego in check or do down someone they have fallen out with (i am not pointing the finger to anyone when I say this) some of the time one knows as to some of the background. Some of the time it explodes publicly, sometimes one does not know.

I haven't posted on these boards in over a year, but i can read and I do communicate with people on fb on the other side and in private and hence still know some of what is going on. No one can know everything and when one isnt on here 24/7 one is out of tocuh. And of course only individuals truly know their own motivations.


the fact is we should all get along fine with each other, its just a hobby has long been the cry but large groups of people can never all get on with each other.

I have had my disputes with people in the past but never because of something directly to do with the case, usually to do with personal issues. I would like to think these are not issues when i see them post on the CB these days. Although if i think i have a problem i hit ignore. I don't see anything wrong with using that function either in moderation. However, I would not use it solely because i disagree about something Ripperological.

I often disgree with myself about such things.

Finally, I dont think Ally is divisive, at times very forthright, yes, honest in her opinion, yes, not one to beat around the bush, true. Someone who deliberately goes out of there way to stir up trouble- i think not. Just think about what one is even implying to suggest that!? Ally is as entitled to her views as the rest of us. Just because we might not always agree just because she asks for evidence, just because she is peristant,it doesn't mean she is doing anything wrong. Was starting this thread a little unfair? Maybe it was but then again she did it for a genuine reason it is certainly a thought provoking one. It made me discover new things - people harrassing people who know Neil Bell and trying to find out about his business??

I hope people would never talk about me behind my back and try and find out such things. I would hope i was not relevant enough to require it.

And as someone who knows these things an inactive account doesnt have to be a sign of anything

Nobody is saying that the facts are indisputable, although in every reasonable sense it is indisputable that Chapman was lying on the ground, not propped against a fence, as Trevor says in his stage show. However, it is Trevor's interpretation of the evidence that is seriously flawed, which he never answers, but dodges, ducks, and dives with silly one-liners and accusations of cartels and biases.

The problem here is that reason is subjective, as is interpretation.

There is no one here, or anyone else on this planet, with 'the truth', on any subject, sat in his/her lap.

In the event Trevor follows a different path - so what. In the event he chooses not to answer questions - so what. Who knows? Perhaps he sees something you don't - and perhaps he's right. It is possible that people who think they're right actually aren't. In the grand scheme of things he may lose some credibility among the establishment - but, a thread setting the lunatics in one corner and the 'truth' advocates in another?

And while everyone is here arguing on Ally's thread, not many are posting on the subject.

I have to disagree with one thing. 125 years (nearly) on our interactions with each other and how this may affect how we view the evidence is important to the subject matter. We progress as a community. Yes based on the abilities of individuals to find things but also based on collective discussions and collaborative workings. The massage boards are the first point of contact for much of this. For instance Neil Bell and Rob Clack do a great deal together these days - whilst i dont know for sure i would hazard a guess they met via CB

I think in this instance that it is about the case. Very much so. It began with Trevor being confronted with a series of very good objections to his claim that Eddowes used her apron for sanitary purposes, and a request that Trevor answer those objections. Trevor didn't. He threw out silly one-liners, a few insults, and he disappeared. It's a tad difficult to avoid being personal when someone does that.

This is an example of what I'm saying.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that Eddowes did indeed use the apron for such purposes. You may disagree; I disagree. But, no real problem.

Trevor may not have answered the post for a variety of reasons. One maybe time; the other maybe he has been through it before. I do recall a thread where Trevor debated the issue. Again, no problem.

I just don't see how Trevor or anyone else should be beholden to the rules of: must accept the established wisdom, or when doing otherwise must reply to other people's requests without fail. I'd imagine that were you to look back through the threads all posters will have declined to reply to a counter-argument for one reason or another.

She's a pale shadow of her former self. I laugh now when people complain of her being 'mean'. They obviously didn't see her at her prime 7 or 8 years ago. She used to be Queen Mean, but now she's a dutchess at best.

I don't even care if Trevor chooses not to answer any questions. That just proves he hasn't got a single rational answer in his head. If it was once, whatever, but repeatedly being stuck without an answer, nope. What I do care about is when he refuses to answer questions but trolls the entire thread with his stupidity and nonsensical antics to deflect from any real debate amongst other people.

And you can bet that crap is going to stop now. I absolutely freaking guarantee it. They have the absolute right not to answer anything they don't wish to answer, but Trolling is against the board rules and the trolling days are firmly at an end. If the game is now get anyone banned you disagree with, aces. I don't actually break the rules. I may be the biggest witch (downgraded apparently from Queen status) but I squeak right in under the rules and I will absolutely continue to do so.

They better learn to abide by the same, because if that's the game they want to play, game on.
