Hello all,
Some songs are SO under-rated.... This song SHOULD have sold millions of copies. Instead it rather slipped through the net.

Sometimes a tiny musical phrase is worth more than a whole year's worth of modern stuff. That phrase that they play after each "Oh you are my love" is one such. There are brilliant phrases in "Sugar Me" by Lynsey de Paul and in "It's For You" by Lennon/McCartney too.

Hello Stephen,
Strange, it's normally the other way around when people don't know it is Rod Stewart on that track..
The answer is:-
Python Lee Jackson- In a broken dream....aka
ROD STEWART
Every day I spend my time
Drinking wine, feeling fine
Waiting here to find the sign
that I can understand, yes I am
In the days between the hours
I read towers, bloody flowers
Push their heads into the air
I don't every care if I ever know
There I go
(Chorus)
Don't push your love too far
Your wounds won't leave a scar
Right now is where you are
In a Broken dream
Did someone bother you
Did someone break the bread
Good people are in bed
Before 9 o'clock
On the pad before my eyes
Paper cry's telling lies
The promises you gave from the grave
Of a broken heart
Every day I spend my time
Drinking wine, feeling fine
Waiting here to find the sign
that I can understand, yes I am
I sit here in my lonley room
Don't push your love too far
Your wounds won't leave a scar
Right now is where you are
In a Broken dream
Now don't you forget what I say
best wishes

Feeling rather nostalgic tonight, me. I think the wife and I will curl up on the chesterfield, open a bottle of wine, and listen to Carole King's Tapestry which, I continue to believe is, perhaps, the best album ever made. We'll probably follow that up with some James Taylor and, maybe, some Linda Ronstadt. By then, it should be bedtime.

'Tapestry' was an album that almost every young person of my age and background (now 53) bought or begged a copy of. It was played at every party I attended from the age of 14-22ish and - along with 'Dark Side of the Moon' (very different I know - but still precious to us in a hard-to-define-way) it's an album that has remained timeless to me.
I hope you had a lovely evening.

I'm listening to this right now. Neil is another singer whose album 'After The Goldrush' was worn down really thin from over-playing at our church youth club:
