Recently watched movies

Just finished watching The Chemical Wedding (aka Crowley in North America). Bizarre movie, but good.

Sort of like a 21st Century version of The Wickerman, although obviously much more graphic in places.

Trivia: the script was co-written by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. He did a pretty good job, although it's so underpinned with Crowley, Jack Parsons, Thelema, Freemasonry and history that the casual viewer would probably be very, very confused for most of it

Watched Zodiac for the first time last night. And watched Crash for the millionth time on Sunday. But it's mostly been good old disney recently. I can't make a one year old sit through anything I'd usually watch... Although the other half jokes that our son will be a ripperologist by the time he's five.

Watched Quantum of Solace last night, it was a fast paced nicely edited movie, loads of action, bond girls, and it was a fast paced nicely edited movie.

Just come home from Slumdog Millionaire... one of the most remarkable films I've seen in a long time. Perfectly-paced, superb cinematography, and very cleverly put together. I was in tears at the end - and I don't quite know why... I guess I was just "moved" by the whole experience.

I have yet to see Slumdog Millionaire, but heard mixed reviews, so I really must see it. I do enjoy Danny Boyle's work, and Trainspotting was one of my fave films back in the 90's.

just watched ``there will be blood`` starring Danial day lewis, this is a very deep and strange film, it is either ``excellent`` or ``boring`` it just depends on the person that watches it, your personality.... i found it compelling and interesting, but also quite disturbing... he is one hell of an actor!

it is about greed, selfishness and his decent into madness... it is excellent simply for his facial expressions, they speak a thousand words... this is a film that lacks much dialogue anyway... it is about ``darkness``.... it reminds me of ``no country for old men``... but without all the violence, it is the same deeply disturbing atmosphere and this is also a very excellent movie.

Yes, it's true. I kind of like it, though not sure why. And I have received a whole lot of ridicule for it. But the bit where the ship tips up still impresses me, anyway.

Watched the new version of The Day the Earth Stood Still last evening and must call it mediocre. Keanu Reeves plays an autistic alien from an "advanced" civilization who can't think of any solutions to Earth's problems other than genocide. The, now CG, GORT is much larger and looks like a cartoon.

I went to see the new Star Trek movie last night.

I'm not a trekkie, so I didn't go prepared to trash the movie, and I thought it was really good.

Simon Pegg was great as Scotty, and the guy playing McCoy was brilliant.

The guy playing Chekov had the fakest Russian accent I've ever heard--Ironic, since he was born in Leningrad.

They tinkered with the Star Trek universe a little, but I think it was for the better.

I'd be interested to hear how trekkers respond to it.

A few of my friends went to see Star Trek, they are self confessed Trekkies, and slated/hated the trailers. I asked what they thought, and whilst one of them stuck to his guns, the others almost cried!

We watched The Day The Earth Stood Still recently, it was the remake, not the original, and really bad! I wish the Studio who greenlit the movie would have stood still!

watched a DVD last night...

called Faintheart.

It was a lovely gentle comedy...people who liked Spaced will like it I think...it also had Jessica Hynes in (from Spaced)...absolutely loved the gentle mockery of the Star Trek obsessions, and the accidental date haha!

One of my favourite bits, has this big beefy bearded Viking guy, sitting round the campfire with the others, giving them the benefit of his wisdom about women.

One of them asks him how he knows so much about women...

He replies, in his deep beefy voice, "I used to be one."
