Had the same experience years ago. Twice I was home ill from work. The first time I watched the Challenger explode on the television. The second was the day of the first attack (the bomb attack) on the World Trade Center.

I also had a peculiar feeling about looking at candidates for political office (mostly local ones). Most of them lost. But some won.

Same thing when I went to Madeira in 2014 - that's when the Malaysian Airlines flight went missing. And for my holiday in Italy last year, there was the Kobani massacre. My holidays clearly have very serious impact on world events.

Well, in 1962 Karl had a day trip to Southend-On-Sea and a stroll on the pier. All that happened was that Kennedy got a slight case of piles. But in 1963 Karl went on a round-the-world luxury cruise. I ask you, how could anything good come of that?

As for Boris - what a massive bell end - but then he won't look out of place in the British Government.

This is perhaps why we were never meant to be in a union with the Europeans: in Europe all the serious people who think they're gonna save the world turn up in politics; in England all of our failed comedians turn up in the House of Commons to give it one last go.
