Final MOD/NA UFO Files released

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and National Archives, (NA) have released their final series of UFO files. The announcement comes with dozens of newspapers covering the story, and I for one will miss the regular releases that have been a treasure trove of material. Well, in the mid-1970s, I actually did the job that Nick Pope later made much of. It was the policy section, within the then Air Force Board Secretariat (and then known as S4(Air)), which dealt with low-flying complaints and UFO reports.

I can honestly say that in the year I worked there there was nothing unexplained and most of the reports that came in were from cranks.

My own feeling is that most of the reported sightings were of tests of secret US fighter aircrfat (perhaps predecessors of the stealth planes) and thus - while perhaps being tested against UK air defence - were no threat.

I think there may be a NOT missing from this sentence however:

The councillor claims his wife was furious when she found out about the affair - but he insists he's doing wrong, because his lover is from another planet.

I think the councillor must be from another planet to be honest.

I saw this programme and I could not believe the whole thing was not a spoof. It's not that I consider these people to be lying (after all, I have a Christian faith and some people think that's cranky thinking) but it's just the things they said! For example, a woman claimed that she is frequently taken by aliens when she is having a Kentucky Fried Chicken take away meal! Another woman was convinced the aliens had replaced some of her DNA and she is now part-alien. And, of course, the councillor mentioned above who has sex with an alien wife several times a year!!

Technically I realize I should probably not find this hilarious because the dude is probably suffering from a major mental illness, but then I think if you are going to be mentally ill, imagining you are having kinky sex with a naughty alien is probably NOT the worst kind of mental illness to have, so I am still going to giggle.
