I think you are quite right when thinking of the effect revelations can have on family and relatives, I shall "come clean " and tell you that my interest in the case was aroused when I was made aware of a book, previously mentioned in this thread, "The Survivor" by Jimmy Evans, which accused my uncle Tommy Butler of being the murderer, this caused both my mum and aunt, both in their 80s great upset, personally I couldn't take it seriously, as another poster said he just lived in the area, there was no evidence, but still not a nice thing to read about a member of your family.

Freddie Mills is innocent.

There is quite a meaty chapter in my book about Freddie Mills. Confusion arose about his possible involvement in the nudes' murders because in 1970 Detective Superintendent John du Rose claimed that his suspect committed suicide shortly after the last murder victim was found at Acton. The person that he was referring to was Mungo Ireland. Someone then jumped the gun and adding two and two together made five. Ireland committed suicide in March 1965 while Mills killed himself in July 1965. Neither Ireland or Mills were the killers. The killer was Harold Jones. Regards. Neil.

Good luck with the book Niel and is there anything in it about Freddie Mills.What if Freddie was going to blow the whistle on the girls murderers. He was then murdered by a guy called Peter Groves and his accomplice called Harry in is car.The orders were given by a guy called Ken.So the question would be who had Freddie told what he was going to do. It would be someone close to him someone he thought he could trust.Have you come across any of these names in your research.Like i said food for thought.

My book: Who was Jack the Stripper? will be launched on Monday 18th April 2011. The 1 hour documentary: Harold Jones - The Welsh Killer will be shown on the C+I Channel 553 on Sunday 29th May 2011. It will be presented by Fred Dineage MBE and Professor David Wilson.
