Ethel Le Neve was alive until 1967....did she not do any of those "tell all" interviews for big $$$ later in life like most people do these days?

Ethel sold her life story to Lloyds Weekly News over four weeks from 6th -
24th Nov as did Dr Crippen, indeed his "farewell message" was published by them. Ethel's parents Walter and Charlotte Neave also spoke and posed for photos in the Weekly Dispatch as this was in August it may have been forthe defence fund.

Some corrections to that article...

There are some corrections concerning my small mention (after a 30 minute interview) that need to be made clear.

I never identified myself as a genealogist since I am not. I made mention of Debra Arif several times as the main researcher on Cora Crippen's genealogy and provided the reporter with links to threads here on Casebook where her research was posted as well as Ms Wills paper, my communications with Foran and my article from Ripper Notes. There are several reasons why Beth Wills' work was flawed and most of that came about through Debs.

The mtDNA testing was first revealed as a press release and a newspaper campaign, of course, and not as a TV documentary. I was involved with researching and writing about MSU's findings long before they all appeared on TV.

Crippen's first wife did not "disappear" in Salt Lake City, she died suddenly, and Crippen fled town (sound familiar?).

As most of the interested people know, my main argument has always been the potential that the tissue sample was contaminated. This possibility was not even mentioned in the article, but Sky news did bring it up a few days ago as being the opinion of the curator of Scotland Yard's crime museum.

Finally, If I did make the statement that "There is no doubt that Crippen is guilty", it would have been expressed as my opinion.

I gather that Mr. Tompkins did not record our conversation since he would have had to inform me in advance and I, having all of my information memorized, went way too fast for him to be able to accurately take down what I had said.

It is my understanding that the police searched Crippens house twice before finding the dismembered torso.
Duriing the third search a great stench eminated from the coal in the passage and voila the body is discovered.

A few questions and points:
1) Why didn't the stench alert the police in the 2 previous searches and wouldn't any smell decrease over time? The torso was also remarkably fresh, too fresh considering Cora was last seen some 5 months earlier.

2) The law at the time demanded a body of some sort for a murder charge to be brought. The police just simply provided one. But first removed all traces of identification including sexual identification execpt for a scar. Any other grave goods would have been easy for the police to have gathered from previous searches.

3) As Adam Went keeps banging on, why would any killer dismember a body at home and then dispose of certain parts elsewhere yet then leave the rest at home to rot? Was Crippen such an expert in butchery to fillet the body as it had been?

4) Cora had been carrying on with Bruce Miller for some 13 years and Hawley had been seeing his lover for a number of years. Why upset the apple cart now?

Regarding your point 2, how would police have known that an ovariotomy scar would be significant in identifying the remains as those of Cora Crippen?
Where exactly would they have obtained hair exactly corresponding to Cora Crippen's in two-tone colour, still attached to a curler and with the roots intact? That is no ordinary hair loss surely?

A woman's combinations were also found with the remains, identified by friends as being similar to the ones Cora was in the habit of wearing. Again, if the pyjama top was planted as there seems to be a hint at, how would police have known the significance? Was Dew a pyjama expert? The pyjama top not only belonged to Crippen but the significance was that that particular top could only have been bought after the Crippens had moved into Hilldrop and so dated the remains to being burried at a time when the Crippens were resident there.

I feel so sorry for Crippen.He was convicted before he ever stood trial.There was so much in the newspapers at the time I don't think he would have gotten a fair trial anywhere in the world.

What do I think happened to Cora?

What Crippen said. She went off with another man.I do not believe Cora Crippen was murdered.

I know this is not a popular view but I really believe this case needs to be totally reinvestigated.
