How disappointed those wonderfully supportive friends and neighbours will feel if it is ever proven that the family conspired to kidnap Shannon to extract money from the public and/or from the McCann fund.

I also feel deeply for that little girl and for her siblings.

It looks like poor Shannon did not have a good environment as clearly her mother was a rotten mother unsupportive of her little girl and the man who had kidnapped her for 23 days had lost custody of his own sons, pressumably for bad parenting skills.

So this is why Shannon is in a protective order by the police because she is not safe in her own family environment, if Shannon hates her mother it is because this little girl was being mistreated by her mother, therefore, Shannon will be removed from there and she will be placed with loving foster parents.

Depending on what Shannon tells the police about what really went on in her family environment, her mother could be facing prison onwhatever transpires of her conversation with the police.

In any case, I´m relieved and happy she has been found alive and that she can be placed with a loving family who will care and guide her during her growing years, so that she become a useful member of our society and not a messed up unhappy person.

The charges mention nothing of mistreating Shannon or being unsupportive,
"Karen Matthews, 32, is being held on suspicion of perverting the course of justice."(2)

Hi.
It is so wrong to speculate at this stage, the media has been fed the impression that Mother/ lover/ sister/ boyfriends mother are all involved in a major conspiracy to gain lots of cash.
I have lived in this crazy world for sixty one years, and up to now have not found the easy road to riches, or ever will,
This is a sad case as everyone loses, and nobody wins.
But I must reserve judgement untill the whole facts are made public, however having been thoughly disapointed in the conclusion of the Princess Diana's inquest, which as predicted by many, left a 'Place the blame' on the driver, I for one ,feel justice should not be accepted as a absolute.

Shannon´s mother has been charged with child neglect. It is on the 10 O´clock news tonight.

This is a woman who had 7 babies with 5 different men.

And it was exactly as I wrote it a few weeks ago. I was right !

So why have the McCanns - an intelligent and professional couple - so far not been charged with child neglect?

They left three tiny tots alone, in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country, with a swimming pool between them and where their parents could be found, eating and drinking the night away.

And Clarence Mitchell had the cheek to preach on the tv news this morning about the Amber Alert programme the McCanns want set up in Europe, asking who in their right mind would not want to do everything possible (however much it costs presumably) to keep children (other people's children presumably) safe and secure??

So according to their own spokesman, the McCanns were not in their right minds when they left theirs unsafe and vulnerable for no possible reason, and expected everyone else to jump when the worst happened.

One rule for some...

Maria Gets It Wwrong Again!!

Poor old Maria just doesn’t get it does she? Now this is a woman who has been berating us for accepting reports in the media reference the McCanns as accurate, and then in the Shannon case gleefully keeps quoting the same sources!

So in Mariaworld if the papers say anything about the McCanns they’re wrong but if they say anything about the Shannon case they’re right.

No she was wrong. What she did, but doesn’t seem to comprehend, was to state without any proof at all that Shannon’s mother abused Shannon. That was a libellous statement, and is probably the reason it was removed from the board. I find it unbelievable that Maria, a seemingly intelligent woman, cannot grasp that basic fact.

Presumably she doesn’t want me to send her a copy of my latest book!

One thing I find a bit worrying is that before the recent revelations about the Shannon case, the parents approached the McCann fund for financial assistance to find their child. They were turned down flat.

Life is stranger than fiction

The latest twist in this ugly saga is that police are investigating if Shannon´s rotten family tried to con cash out of Kate and Gerry Mc Cann.

People claiming to be related to Shannon rang or wrote several times asking for money from The Find Madeleine fund.

Kate and Gerry wanted to help but others became suspicious and refused.

The idea was discussed by the fund´s directors, however others became suspicious about the strange method of approach and suggested they did not get involved. That proved to be wise.

Considering I wrote a month ago even before Shannon´s mother was arrested and now charged that this was going to be the outcome now you should admit that I was right about it.

Shannon's Mother is "facing Charges" at no point does it state any were that she has been "found guilty"

The whole point of her going to court today is to "Face the charges", she still has the right of appeal and until found guilty or innocent I would suggest you stop speculating.

Why is a proven, and incredibly sad case of child neglect (Madeleine could not have gone missing, and been subjected to goodness knows what horrors, if she and her siblings had not been neglected by her parents), being turned into a case of 'Maria Tries to Prove She Was Right For Once in her Life'?

At the very least, Shannon turned up alive and now has the chance, because of what happened to her, of going on to a happier and more secure adulthood, with the help of people who care about the welfare of children, even if their own parents don't.

Yes, Bob, that didn't escape me either: the first high profile missing child case here since the events of last May in Portugal, and the fund didn't cough up a lousy Euro to help find Shannon. Why did the fund managers even wait to be approached?? She was the victim in all this, and she still needed to be found and cared for properly (costing the taxpayer a small fortune), regardless of whether the wrong people requested financial assistance for the wrong reasons.

Let's hope that the decision was based on a suspicion of attempted fraud which the McCann fund managers immediately passed on to the police. One assumes the fund didn't begrudge Shannon, while she was still missing and unaccounted for, the price of a phone call.

Shannon´s mother has been charged and she is in prison.

She has not been bailed out like her boyfriend´s mother and sister have.

Her boyfriend that is Shannon´s step-father has been charged with child pornography when the police discovered this nasty material in his computer, he is also in Jail.

The police say they do have sufficient EVIDENCE to convict them.

The rest of Shannon´s siblings have been put into care, that is away from her with foster parents.

It doesn´t look good for this family Mike however way you look at it.

Being "Remanded in Custody" and "Being in Prison" are two different things!

Being Remanded in Custody suggests the legal teams on both sides are building a case for or against.

Being in Prison suggests she has been found guilty and is now sent away for a length of time.

I am aware of several criminal cases were the defendant has been remanded in custody, only to be set free after the trial.

What has happened to the rest of the kids?
