  • British Columbia sounds wonderful, and I would love to see the area one day. I like the older mountain areas, too. Like the one Mike describes. One tends to under-rate the Appalachians compared to the Rockies, or Alps, but when you go there, there is something about the Appalachians that, when you look out over the valleys and old rounded hills, makes you think "Ahhhh. A little cabin right over there would be Heaven." The Smokies have that mysterious fogginess and all the greenery. I saw the Rockies around Silverton and other parts of Colorado but not the high mountains that you get further north.
"What our ancestors would really be thinking, if they were alive today, is: "Why is it so dark in here?"" From Pyramids by Sir Terry Pratchett, a British National Treasure.

    • If I leave my house and walk for about an hour I am met with flat, green farmland. There are no mountains, lakes, or rivers, but it is like heaven on earth!
I took my kids out there last summer, and it was great, we had a picnic next to a small brook and the kids were throwing stones in. If you look one way you can see miles of flat countryside, which was created in the ice age.
If you turn 180 degrees you see the city!

      • The girls have been working very busy creating our site, and it looks fantastic. There is a working guestbook, so feel free to sign and let them know you came from casebook and there is my little history page.

Anyone with a love of all things nautical should check it out, its just a very short essay on Blaydes House, our first location and a place I am very much in love with!! (sorry wife!)

        Here is the link,

I tracked down the first few episodes of Ghosthunters International and it was ok, much better than the most haunted lot anyway.

        • Hi all,

The remake of The Andromeda Strain is on A&E tonight. Does anyone else plan on watching it?
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

          • I came across the trailer for the new Mummy movie, the other day and it looks ok, thankfully the little brat in it has grown up now!

My friend saw Indiana Jones over the weekend, he then posted the ending to the movie online! Thing is, he didn't say "Here is the ending" so I read it and was most angry!

"Journey to the Centre of the Earth" is also ready for release, I saw some poster art for it online, as if memory serves me right, it also stars Brandon Fraser of "The Mummy".

No Forteana TV over here at the minute, new series of Mythbusters though, so were not completely without!

The weekend was dominated by Hull City winning at Wembley, over 100,000 people lined the streets and city centre was packed! I have never seen so many Hull residents, and it was nice to see the city on tv for a positive reason. When they came along my stretch of the Road, the crowds went crazy, screaming, clapping, cheering, it was amazing! Even the police had Hull City flags on their vans! It is the first time the club have got this far in their 100+ year history, so the party lasted all weekend!

Were busy with Ghosttrackers at the moment, with an investigation planned for tomorrow, and one due next Monday! We are also looking at two sites associated with Robert D'Onston Stephenson!!

            • sdreid, The Andromeda Strain. That is a great movie. A remake? How was it?

Congrats on Hulls win at Wembley Mike. Never thought tennis would bring out crowds like that.

              • Hi Plang,

The remake is OK but it doesn't quite seem to have the atmosphere of the original The Andromeda Strain which I saw at the theater when it first came out. Tokenistic casting is a little bit of a turn off in this new version too. I kept wondering when the female Australoid biochemist was going to pop in but, hey, there's still two hours of the show left tonight. It's a total 4 hour movie on TV so, with the commercials eliminated, it will be 3 hours on DVD.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

                • P.S.

The first half of the movie is being replayed several times today and then the second half this evening. After the part two tonight, the whole 4 hour show is being played straight through as a unit.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

                  • sdreid, in your final analysis, let us know if we should get the DVD please.
But really can't see how to top the original other than with special effects and up to date technologies.
On the other hand, The Day The Earth Stood Still is long overdue as a remake, and I already have tickets!

                    • You might remember a few weeks ago I mentioned I picked up the complete movie collection of "Planet of the Apes", and the "Collectors Edition" of the first "Planet of the apes".

I was in town over the weekend with my son and found the entire "Planet of the apes" TV series, spread over several disks, and in a lovely carry case, for only a few ££'S!! Then as we picked it up and made way for the checkout, I saw Tim Burton's "Planet of the apes", yet it was the "Ultimate Edition", complete with extras in a metal carry case!

I now have every movie, tv show and cut and payed about £50 in total for the lot! I am hoping to have a day alone, to site and go "Simian" and watch the lot in one go!

I was gutted to read my friend had posted a "Myspace" bulletin, in which he reviewed "Indiana Jones (4)" In his review he gave away the ending! I was pretty upset and shall be havin words with him at some point!

Not alot happening on on the TV front, nice to see the Mars Mission has so far been successful, although I did hear a comment that it looks like the local beach, "Dull and Devoid of Intelligent life"!!

We are planning for a Paranormal Investigation in a Scottish Castle which is hundreds of years old!
                      Regards Mike

                      • Hi Plang and Mike,

I don't think I would recommend renting the DVD unless you are really bored or curious and have some disposable income. The movie was OK for free but that's about it in my view. I would rather see the original again. This one is replaying again today and I won't re-watch it even though it's free. I can't say for sure that you won't like it but I doubt that you'll be all that excited about it. The general story is the same but there are a few new twists.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

                          • sdreid, thanks for the review. I'll get it if I see it in the reject bin at Walmart for a $1.99. Still have a bunch of DVD's unopened, some of them are probably quite good. There is just so much else going on ,have no time for it. Got 'attention deficit disorder'.
Hi Mike, Remember when I first saw Planet of the Apes.Thought is was the most fascinating movie. For its time, it almost equals Lord of the Rings, (the fellowship of the ring) which by the way in my opinion is THE movie that has set the bar higher than ever before. Tough to top that.

                            • I love the Lord of the Rings Movies and I have the Dvd boxset, then the Collectors Editions with little statues! I also have loads of little figures and a replica ring, on a chain!

I am looking forward to "The Hobbit" especially since both Sir Ian Makellen (?), and Andy serkis will be both starring! Peter Jackson (should be sir peter jackson) is producing and Guillermo Del Toro is directing.

Which brings me to my question of the day, does anyone in Hollywood have a normal name?

Great football/soccer match last night between England and USA

Film Of 'Living Alien' To Be Shown
                                Updated:16:13, Thursday May 29, 2008

A US campaigner has vowed to release a video which he says proves the existence of aliens.
Jeff Peckman, who claims the film features a living extraterrestrial, will show the footage to the media on Friday.

The 54-year-old is lobbying for a commission to be set up in Denver so the city can prepare for contact with alien life.

Mr Peckman promised to show the film to officials when he appeared before them earlier this month.

He told the Rocky Mountain News: "It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera."

Mr Peckman - who said the film convinced him that aliens exist and the city needed to act - said the creature is about 4ft tall and can be seen blinking.

"As impressive as it is, it's still one tiny portion in the context of a vast amount of peripheral evidence," he said.

"It's really the final visual confirmation of what you already know to be true having seen all the other evidence."

Mr Peckham added that other "related credible evidence" proving aliens exist will also be shown at at the news conference.

He said an instructor at the Colorado Film School in Denver has analysed the video "very carefully" and said it was authentic.

The general public will have to wait to see the footage as it is being included in a forthcoming documentary.
                                Regards Mike
