  • Hi Gang,

Stan, did those poor people die on the day of the closing? My god, that must have given you a weird feeling. You say it has been quiet but have you sensed any presences?

Dougie, That sounds like an amazing house. I'll bet your kids loved growing up there. Did they experience the presence you mentioned? I have had a similar experience to the one you describe. The strongest was at an old hotel in Florida, that was a museum at the time I was there. It was built in 1905, back when south Florida was still one of the USA's last frontiers. I worked in that building for a year. That large piece of oak sounds almost like a door. OOOOOW! A doorway to the netherworld. Restoration work calls for a lot of patience and skill and I imagine it's pretty rewarding.

Plang, I relate 100% to what you say about the A/C. What are we going to do without? I don't think I could make it. As for ghosts, I guess I've seen or heard too many spooky stories.

Mike, I think there are some motels here in the States that still do that pay as you go TV. It's strange.

We had yet another Saturday night with tornadoes and severe storms. Seems like it's every weekend now.

    Take care, All.

    • I really feel for you guys, in Hull it is hot hot hot, and we are making the most of it.
One of our Rugby Teams won today,
      Our football team won,
The city was featured on National Radio and TV,
      and it couldn't be better!

Just about to bath the little sweethearts, feed them, and put them to bed, then it's podcast time.
      Regards Mike

Yes, it was closing day and it was creepy. My girlfriend at the time and I used to hear cabinets closing and such but I haven't heard much in recent years. When that would happen in the evening, she would cuddle up much closer to me on the sofa.

One time when she got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, she said that she saw like a purple light coming out of there. I didn't ever see that but one time when I went into my basement I saw the downstairs shower room door going closed. I ran over and opened it but no one was there. Maybe it was a freak gust of wind but there weren't any air currents that I could tell.

Also, one night when I came home from work, a light that I never use was turned on.

        • I believe my son has some sort of gift.
He once described a man with wings at the top of the stairs, has seen several "black birds" fly through the house, and ducks to avoid them!
He also witnessed something at my mother and father's house, which they both saw, and he just sat and watched it walk on by.

Yesterday we went to a friends for a BBQ, it was an unusal day as I had decided to wear shorts! something I had not done since my last heart operation!

As we were sat in the back garden he ran to the patio doors and said,
"What?, I have not said anything!"

He came over and I asked what was wrong and he replied,
"The man in the kitchen told me to be quite!"

Our hosts were pretty scared by that point!
          Regards Mike

Holy ectoplasm, Batman! That's wild! How old is this house? They sure seemed to have a fixation on the bathrooms and kitchens, didn't they? Did your kids ever see any of this?

            • Hey Mike,

It's amazing how some little kids can see these things, isn't it? It will be interesting to see if he retains this, won't it? You know, Caz has a story about when her doctor was very young. She apparently believed that she had been another person at one time. It's on that old thread about eerie things happening while doing ripper research, or whatever it was.

              • Hi Celesta,

I bought this house after my divorce so my kids never lived here. It was built in 1955.

                • Hi all,

I have had a quiet Mother's Day with my Mom today - which I suppose is good for an 80 year old lady. She's currently watching a repeat of an old Sinatra special on TCM network.

I have done nothing out-of-the usual today - I did do some work on the Druitt threads but little else.

Wasn't there a thread on the last Casebook Forum about the murder of Barbara Waterhouse by William Turner in 1891? I seem to remember that a collateral descendant of the little girl contacted the board, but now the thread seems to be gone. I just came across of some more material on it that I had overlooked months ago.

My best wishes to all - and happy Mother's Day to the mothers, wives, and
aunts out there enjoying the day.

                  Best wishes,

                  Jeff

                  • Hi Jeff,

I don't remember that thread. Was it more than 3 years ago before I became a participant?

                      • Hi guys, I read that thread, it was the one set up by Amber on the pub talk threads.

Kids do say some unusual and often funny stuff, and he is at the right age to communicate and tell me what is wrong.
Last night he would not sleep because he could hear a dog barking in the distance, he became upset and asked me to go and see if the dog was ok!

I finished the Roswell UFO Crash yesterday, by Kal K Korff, and it is a logical sceptical look at the witnesses, myths and autopsy footage and is quite a good read.

I am taking it easy today, Alien Vs Predator 2 is out on dvd and I might nip and buy a copy shortly, I have heard mixed reviews, but I have all the alien movies, and all the predator so i really must add this one to the collection.
                        Regards Mike

I watched Cloverfield on DVD last night - not bad - different.

                          • According to the makers of Cloverfield the film was made for the small screen, so it looks like your watching news footage.

Gladiator's returned to the screen's in the UK last night, it was pretty much the same, except they got rid of the crash mats, and had large swimming pools to fall in. It would be better if sharks were in the pools, with lasers on there heads, but you can't have everything!

I have my shiny new Alien Vs Predator 2 disk set sat close by, my four year old is with me, so it will have to wait until another day!

                            • Cloverfield is shot as if by amateur video like The Blair Witch Project except better done - my view. New York gets attacked by a cootie infested monster.

Short yet sweet review Stan, just how I like it.

I watched Halloween 2007 the other night, in my view- Lunatic kills people
