Interesting article by Simon Wood, "One Lone Maniac Too Many." I've been interested in Col. Hughes-Hallett ever since Joe Checuti first wrote about him. It's a very complex story to follow. Edward Stanley ("the Pensioner"), Hughes-Hallet and Leonard Matter's Dr. Stanley, all one and the same?

Perhaps. One thing that bothers me though, is wouldn't anybody -- press, police or Baxter, etc, recognize Hughes-Hallet at Annie Chapman's inquest when he appeared as Edward Stanley?

Ah Scott, but he's a skilled amateur theatrical and master of disguise...

Clearly Simon's completed some amazing research, as the last two issues show, but I'm afraid I remain unconvinced.

Agreed. It certainly has got me thinking. There are things in the two articles of Simon that leave questions abound. I would like to see more reaction to these two excellent articles of Simons. Congratulations Simon, great stuff!
