It was some months after the conference that I discovered the likely reason why Inspector Andrews was in Montreal and where he went after (and I’d be very surprised if Mr. Palmer could say the same thing).
Hi Wolf. Any chance we'll see a new controversial write-up by you in an upcoming Examiner?
“Finally, quoting a suggestion by British journalist and MP Henry Labouchere, Vanderlinden offered an alternative theory, suggesting that Andrews had, in reality, slipped off to Chicago to meet with Henri Le Caron…”
R. J. Palmer, The Rise of Walter Andrews.
I found this interesting. A re-reading of my article, On The Trail Of Tumblety? Inspector Andrews Trip To Toronto, Part 2, Ripper Notes #24, will show that I never stated that Inspector Andrews “had” gone to Chicago or that this was the “reality.” I did suggest that as Andrews didn’t go to New York, and he didn’t, that he might have gone somewhere else in the U.S. and that he might have gone to Chicago to see Le Caron.
In fact, he couldn’t have seen Le Caron in Chicago at the time because, as Alan Sharp pointed out to me at the last Baltimore Conference, Le Caron was in England where he had rushed to the bedside of his dying father. It was some months after the conference that I discovered the likely reason why Inspector Andrews was in Montreal and where he went after (and I’d be very surprised if Mr. Palmer could say the same thing).
Other than that, a very enjoyable read. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Thanks for my copy of the debut issue. I think giving out complimentary issues to Casebook members was a terrific idea and I look forward to reading mine.
Well I know that Scott has done a lot more research than some others who have written books. I'm not in the business of telling anyone what to do but I would welcome a book by Scott.

I'm also not in the business of telling people what to do, since I don't get paid for it. It's merely a service I offer for free. So Scott, WRITE THAT BOOK!
Thanks, Scott. I'm honored you actually read it. Don't know who Lally Hawkins is. Well, write one on your own then.
I JUST opened and skimmed through my copy and haven't yet had a chance to read it. But kudos to David Pegg for the totally unique layout and presentation, and to Don Souden for a premier issue that doesn't look like a premier issue, and to Jennifer Shelden for whatever it is she does for the magazine. Nice pic of her and Neal.

Ah, well then, screw it. So much for trying to start up another Ripper magazine.
All the more reason for you and Chris Phillips to FINALLY write that book together!

I just started reading Tom's article. It is quite informative so far. It dispells a lot of mistruths and misunderstandings about Stride's murder thus far. I'm actually taking some notes on it. Good work, Tom!
Thanks! I just hope it falls into the hands of those who need to read it, such as Trevor and AP. LOL.

I hope that Palmer eventually writes a book on this subject?
On this you and I most certainly agree. RJ has been silent too long and I'm delighted to see him back.
well, the issue that was e-mailed to me was pretty danged good. When I can afford to I will certainly consider a subscription, although I'm a bit of a fuddy duddy and prefer paper 'zines to e-zines normally.
