  • New Edition of "Naming Jack the Ripper" by Russell Edwards

I attach a link to a new edition of Russell Edwards' JTR book.

I can only assume that he will have another go at shoring up the DNA evidence, and the scientific report by Dr Jari Louhelainen.

The book is scheduled for October 2024.

Interesting, however I'm astonished at how many decent reviews this book received. I thought it's been long established the DNA/Shawl etc was debunked and of course let's not mention Saddleworth Moor.

Article in the Daily Mail of 7th October 2024, which is essentially a "puff piece" for Mr Edwards' new book " Naming Jack the Ripper: The Definitive Reveal".

The article says that Edwards was sent a packet photographs showing Aaron Kozminski's brother Isaac in a group photograph of "The Lodge of Israel" a freemanonary group for Jews.

From this, and possibly other "evidence", Edwards ties in Aaron Kozminski with the Freemasons in the murders.

Hey, there's even a computer generated photograph of Aaron!

      What's not to love?

I guess Mr Edwards fancies a five star all inclusive holiday or a nice extension built on his house, so it's time to milk the cash cow again!

After the disgusting Saddleworth Moor saga anyone with an ounce of self awareness or decency would keep a low profile and not raise their head above the parapet (in my humble opinion).

Edwards claimed to have found the body of one of the child victims of the serial killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.
Brady and Hindley buried their victims on Saddleworth Moor in Yorkshire, at least one body is still there.

Needless to say, no body was recovered, but Mr Edwards' claims received huge publicity.

It seems most of the Press today are all over this.

Interesting to note that the Metro have gone with a Chapman as the possible murderer.

I never got around to reading the first one, anyone know how this differs?

                    Regards.

As far as I can gather, Edwards ties in the Freemasons to Kozminski via his brother Isaac.

The problem with Chapman as a suspect is his vastly different M.O. than the Ripper murders.

I agree John; it's the key reason to dismiss Chapman IMO.

That said; Serial Killers DO change their M.O.

It's their "signature' that usually always remains the same.

The problem is that with Chapman the M.O. as you say is "vastly different."
So much so that it's hard to look past that and Chapman just doesn't feel right as the Ripper.

Somewhat ironically; it's not Chapman being a serial killer that is his primary attribute for considering him as the Ripper; it's the fact his real name is similar to another "suspect."

                          Not a million miles apart.

I wonder whether there was any mix up somewhere regarding these 2 individuals.

Chapman's M.O. being vastly different from The Ripper's is about the only problem with him as a suspect, other than that there's nothing to link him to any of the murders, which is true of all of the best suspects in the case except Hutchinson. He's a known serial killer, he lived in the immediate area of the murders at the time they took place, he had medical knowledge, and he was Abberline's top suspect. In a case where all of the suspects are weak, I don't think that the vastly different M.O. is enough to keep him from being one of the top suspects.

I disagree Lewis C. Chapman's vastly different M.O. is a major problem. Especially when you consider there is Bury with a similar M.O. Another point is that Chapman may have been considered a suspect at the time purely for being a serial murderer. In the late 1800's they didn't understand that Serial Killers rarely change M.O. and if they do its not as radical as changing from a strangulation and knife mutilation to poisoning.

                              Cheers John
