I'm relatively new to the whole subject of the murders, and have only read a few books, but I thought the information you provided on the background to the earlier murders and how certain other characters seem to have been involved was fascinating. I also thought the writing style was very easy to follow
Thanks, Scanbran! And when you get a chance, check out the new podcast in the Ripper podcast section to your left.

      • Here's another podcast I did over the weekend. These guys are awesome and their show covers a variety of true crime and related topics. This podcast is much shorter than my Rippercast, and while some of the stuff is of course the same, I talk about other stuff as well.

        • Great job with the Rippercast, Tom. Although, I must confess, it was a shock to discover that you aren't from London. Not knowing you personally but given your expertise, I just assumed you were also a tour guide, conference organizer, Ten Bells patron, etc. With the success of your book, I kind of figured you would be the guy roaming around Whitechapel looking like Astrakhan Man. Seriously, it's inspirational that a talented person can, with hard work and an internet connection, accomplish such quality research.

Thanks, Barnaby, I don't think the kinds of people you describe do much publishing, do they? Yep, I'm a Yank. Lot of us around this case these days. Casebook, jtrforums, Rippercast, all American. Kinda odd, when you think about it.

Thanks! Have you heard both podcasts yet? Are you that masochistic? I'm curious to know which one is best.

I've never been to London and would love to go both in general and for a conference, but this is a good argument to have one in the States. Personally, I'd love to see a New Orleans: Jack the Ripper on Bourbon Street conference.

I listened to your Rippercast appearance twice in one day, it was so good.

                  • To all of you,

There's a lot of lively discussion regarding my book and podcasts going on at the jtrforums. Come on over and join in. Edward Stow ain't buying it and isn't shy to say so, and Howard posted an article from 1883 sent to him by 'Pete' that shows Thick being accused of fitting up a man for a crime. Very interesting stuff.

                    Yours truly,

                    Tom Wescott

P.S. Thanks, Menges. I was just able to finish listening to my Rippercast last night. It's frickin' long!

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

So you're the cheeky Brit who bought the kindle, read it quickly, and got a refund! I figured it was either you or Mike Covell, Ripper Expert & Actor.
