    Lawende's signature

    hi

    does anyone have a copy of Lawende's signature from one of the censuses or any other documents at all?

    grateful for any assistance

          Anglicised

          it's how the name was Anglicised GUT. He became naturalised didn't he at some point.

                well..

                i guess like many immigrants he wanted to fit in and be like the indiginous population, so making his name less 'foreign sounding' was probably something he wanted to do.

                      They do rather. For one thing, the later signature is tidier. I thought time and ageing usually brought untidiness.
