    The Wiki entry has mixed up two different McCarthys. Information garnered from Fiona Rule's book should be viewed cautiously.

    Yes, they were. But Jack McCarthy, Esq. wasn't the Miller's Court landlord -- another McCarthy was. Although McCarthy Esq. supposedly owned three lodging houses on Dorset Street, he didn't own Miller's Court (Abraham Cohen did).

    Jack McCarthy speech on Dorset Street

    I have attached a speech made by someone called Jack McCarthy who denounced an article claiming that Dorset Street is the centre of crime etc. The name McCarthy is a fairly common one for the time period but given the location and time period had me wondering whether he was related to John McCarthy?
