I notice that you left out the fact that Long saw her couple in daylight whereas Lawende saw his couple at night.
I never said that he was drunk or that there was absolute proof that he’d had a drink but if he’d spent the evening in a club then it’s entirely reasonable to suggest that he might have had a drink. He might have had one pint….he might have had 6 pints for all that we know. So it’s an unknown…not an irrelevance. I can’t say that he’d had a drink and you have no evidence that he hadn’t. So we have to assume that both are equally possible. It’s 50-50.Regards

You are displaying the lack of understanding - of the differences between the Jewish and Gentile communities at that time - to which I have referred.Regards

It was not a public house.
It was not a pub/club, as you put it.
People did not go there to drink.
It was a dining club.

This advertisement was posted on here in 2008 by the late Chris Scott. It says that the club was run on the principles of the West End clubs which, as we know, served alcohol. The difference at The Imperial being that naturally the food was Kosher.Regards
Sir Herlock Sholmes.

People didn't go to such a club to down six pints of beer, as you suggested.

And so as you’ve provided no evidence that members couldn’t get a drink at the Imperial Club and I’ve provided evidence that they could. Perhaps you could now provide the evidence to back up your claim to know how much a member might or might not drink there?Regards
Sir Herlock Sholmes.

Ok. So you’ve now changed position from “People did not go there to drink,” to the above.
People did not drink six pints of beer at kosher dining clubs. (# 423)
People didn't go to such a club to down six pints of beer, as you suggested. (# 428).

If you went to a Kosher restaurant, you would not see people drinking pints of beer.
Your challenge is not a valid one.
It is rather like asking someone to prove that people don't go to vegan restaurants to get drunk.

So my question is entirely valid; which I’ll repeat…..can you provide proper evidence that Joseph Lawende hadn’t been drinking? I can’t prove that he had (which I’ll openly concede), but I’ve never claimed that he had, only that there’s an entirely reasonable possibility that he might have been.Regards

Obviously excessive drinking is not encouraged but booze is certainly readily available.

What would be your estimation of the probability of someone going there and drinking six pints of bitter?
