In an attempt to revive the now defunct "Discredit" argument, it sounds like we are expected to entertain the belief that the press knew more than the police.
I simply didn't read the extract as you, or indeed Fish, did. Whatever.

"Is there no end to this madness... "
Now, THERE`S a question I can answer with confidence, Jon!
" I wonder how common that kind of expensive coat would be in the East End?"
Few enough, Lynn, to create amazement, awe, respect, envy, a sense of disbelief and a wish to rise to wealth. Not suspicion, though.
The best,

Those passing through the East end did not always live in the East end (I know you know this).
This coat was popular among East Europeans, which is not far from where it originated.

Wonder why an Irish chap like Millen would favour such? Ostentation?
