It should be regarded as incomprehensible that a warm Astrachan coat worn in November (when it will be a popular choice) should create suspicion. It takes more than a coat to identify a villain.Originally posted by Sally View PostPerhaps so, Fish. But if Hutchinson, his suspect, or both, had not been at the least, generally disregarded to an extent by then, we must explain the phrase: 'it incomprehensibly created suspicion'.
In an attempt to revive the now defunct "Discredit" argument, it sounds like we are expected to entertain the belief that the press knew more than the police.Sounds more like the arresting policeman/men were behind with the times.
Is there no end to this madness...

Hello Jon. But I wonder how common that kind of expensive coat would be in the East End?
Cheers.

I couldn't give a rat's arse about the 'discredit argument' Jon. It's irrelevant in my view.In an attempt to revive the now defunct "Discredit" argument, it sounds like we are expected to entertain the belief that the press knew more than the police.
I simply didn't read the extract as you, or indeed Fish, did. Whatever.
Apparently not.Is there no end to this madness...

"Is there no end to this madness... "
Now, THERE`S a question I can answer with confidence, Jon!
" I wonder how common that kind of expensive coat would be in the East End?"
Few enough, Lynn, to create amazement, awe, respect, envy, a sense of disbelief and a wish to rise to wealth. Not suspicion, though.
The best,

Those passing through the East end did not always live in the East end (I know you know this).
This coat was popular among East Europeans, which is not far from where it originated.

Hello Christer. Thanks.
"Few enough, Lynn, to create amazement, awe, respect, envy, a sense of disbelief and a wish to rise to wealth. Not suspicion, though."
Can't argue with that.

ostentation?
Hello Jon. Thanks. Sounds a bit uncommon, then.
Wonder why an Irish chap like Millen would favour such? Ostentation?
Cheers.

Same reason a Brit might drive a Toyota, consumerism is not the product of our wasteful generation. The Astrakhan coat was certainly a mark of ostentation, not the kind of thing you would go hunting humans inOriginally posted by lynn cates View PostHello Jon. Thanks. Sounds a bit uncommon, then.

....but then, if you are "not of sound mind", who knows!
