After chewing on it for a minute or two, I decided not to buy it, though. I am having trouble with Chapman willingly going into what she must have realized would be a cul-de-sac, for instance. And I do believe that Lawendes man in Church Passage was JAck, meaning that it seems that he had a way with women - at least enough to get himself into a situation where Kate put her hand on his chest in what seems to be not too frightened a gesture.

PS. I second Sam´s assumption too; if he chased Tabram up them stairs, Polly down that street, Annie through that corridor, Liz in that yard and Kate over Mitre Square, somebody would have heard something!
