Frank Leaving the Keys and Bloody Clothes as Insurance

This only came to me today.

The "Danish Farmhand" Frank who is the Number 1 suspect in the murder of Carrie Brown pulled an ingenious move when he returned to the home of his employer and left the key to the murder room and his bloody clothes there to be found by a maid. The move provided insurance for him against the man who hired him, if he ever got caught.

I was never too keen on professionalism so I didn't think of what a hired assassin would do and I never thought about the legalities of getting caught in the situation. Professionalism in crime and legalism were never my forte so I was slow on the uptake. But better late than never.

A Northern Italian invented Criminology but Thomas Harris surpassed us all. Except for Michael Barrett and his Diary of Jack the Ripper.

"In 19th-century New York, cases of hired killers often resulted in reduced sentences, particularly when the killer was a person of lower social standing and the victim's family was wealthy or influential. This disparity reflected the biases and inequalities of the legal system at the time, where social status could significantly influence the outcome of a case." Google Overview

Reduced sentences and reduced prosecution, proving the point about insurance....

Why George Damon is most likely guilty:

    1. He hired the No. 1 Suspect
    2. He lied in four affidavits about where he met the suspect, when he met him, what he hired him for, and what he looked like
    3. He fits the description of the man who allegedly was being extorted by the victim: A merchant who worked near Broadway
    4. He fits the description of the man who suspiciously went out to a bar and then to the East River Hotel with the victim and her friend on the previous Monday and refused to give his last name: a man named George with a possible chin dimple ("hole in the chin")
    5. He held onto the evidence that would have made him a hero by helping catch the real "Jack the Ripper" in America and exonerating an innocent man
