Alice in 1871 a possibly 1881

Thanks, Michael. Alice is one of the subjects I’m a bit obsessed with. I’ve been meaning to go to Peterborough for yonks, but haven’t got round to it yet. I have, though, joined a couple of local history/genealogy societies to see if I can dig up anything more about her childhood. I think it’s likely that at one time her father was the servant of a senior cleric at Peterborough Cathedral - perhaps the Bishop himself. If so, there may be some records - possibly even photos - of Alice’s family hanging around in the diocesan archives.

You never know Gary. There’s so much info out there to be tracked down. I’m guessing that apart from good research skills sometimes a good old stroke of luck might come in handy? It would be great if you could get the names of those in the group photo of servants. Until then it’s tantalising that to think that it might be a young Alice staring back at us. Good hunting.
