What I found interesting was that Denis and John (the fathers) were both described as Marine store dealers. Not knowing what a Marine Store Dealer was I looked it up in the newspapers.
The accounts I found were all dealing in metals of one kind or another.
I suppose its always possible Mary could have said to Joseph Barnett words to the effect of that her father was his own boss (a gaffer?) and dealt in iron" It seems that they were like todays scrap metal merchants. (A dodgy lot in Deptford years ago) I remember the carts going round the streets shouting "Any old Iron"
