Yes, this is an excellent account of the Yorkshire Ripper murders. Although Sutcliffe generally targeted street prostitutes, who he claimed to have a hatred of, his later victims were non-prostitutes attacked well away from red light districts. In fact, one of his earlier victims was a 14 year-old schoolgirl who be attacked in a rural area down a remote country last lane (she survived). Incredibly he was also identified by a male taxi driver who claimed Sutcliffe assaulted him with a hammer as early as 1967.
Yes, and perhaps somerset might be interested in the murder of Patricia Atkinson, whom Sutcliffe met on the street. Atkinson took him back to her flat where he murdered her, indoors (parallel with MJK?).
At the time of the Yorkshire Ripper murders I was living in Yeadon, a small place between Leeds & Bradford - yes I remember those days well.Regards, Jon S.

As for the OP, you have to bear in mind that this wasn't exactly the Red Light District. Whitechapel was his stomping ground, and most of the prostitutes operating there would've been middle aged down-and-outs who sold their bodies to pay for their next drink or doss. I have a theory that there's a correlation between the facial mutilations and the attractiveness of his victim. Nichols & Chapman were viewed as little more than 'donors', he was only interested in disemboweling them. When he got around to Eddowes & Kelly, however, mutilating their bodies wasn't enough to dehumanize them. He had to violently ruin their faces as well, with Kelly bearing the worst of it.

Miss MarpleI won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.

Kelly became a victim purely because of the lack of streetwalkers he stepped out of his comfort zone when he chose Kelly but the extra time did allow him to satisfy ever whim in his perverted mind .Three things in life that don't stay hidden for to long ones the sun ones the moon and the other is the truth

Chapman and Eddowes had both been disembowelled as well, yet MJ's scene was worse to a disturbing degree. She was also killed quite a while after the others . . . I would not be very surprised if she was shown beyond reasonable doubt to be a victim of Jack's, so I'm always open to argument for this . . .
Does anyone think perhaps MJ's death was planned more hastily?
Mikehuh?

Street girls were being cautious and he got an opportunity to run wild(er).G U T

If you are suggesting that her killer was well off, I don't think that conclusion naturally follows. If the killing was planned, he could have simply offered any amount knowing that he could take it all back when done.
