It's not as though we're being asked to believe Kelly cried "Murder! Murder most foul!" That would be a bit hard to swallow.

I recall a time when, if one were suspected of making off with someone's property, the cry, "Stop, thief" would be automatic.

Not quite so common today.

B] Suddenly awakening from a bad dream.
The latter has to be the choice taking a whole load of factors into consideration.

Lets put this into perspective, If you or I are having a bad dream/nightmare, it is entirely possible that you could suddenly awake and shout out your fears, that is a common practise,
And in the case of MJK, and if we take Lottie's version of Kelly's dream on board, we could well have a case Mary awakening shouting out 'Oh ,Murder' .
It make's perfect sense to me.

I've always assumed it was a passerby who didn't want to get involved with the police. I don't see how it could have been Kelly. If you're being murdered, you'd hardly have the presence of mind to cry out, "Oh, murder!" Wouldn't you be more likely to say, "Help," or merely emit a wordless scream???
