On a related note...were the clothes that were retrieved from the crime scene ever itemized and documented? I know she was last seen in a "linsey frock" and a shawl; I'm assuming they were in the pile in front of the fireplace. Was there anything else listed?

    T'anks for any help.

As to her partner retaining any items (or the partners of any of the other victims for that matter), I dare say that some pathetic keepsakes might well have been saved - although that's just speculation on my part. Even assuming they had, then heaven knows whether they've survived to this day.
I couldn't help mentioning the following thing; since MJK was behind the rent, it was in mr. McCarthy's interests to tell he owned everything, wasn't it?!

Often I look at Degas' redheads and think of Mary.
Well, it's quite as possible, that she was a Degas-like type! We can only make presumptions based on the crime scene photo and the contemporary sketches!

At least I'm sure, that she didn't look like Calamity Jane!

(Yes, I've been watching Deadwood on dvd lately! )

Indeed so - and a good observation. Mind you, I don't think that the decrepit fixtures and fittings in that room would have been worth much money.
          Kind regards, Sam Flynn

            Hello Sam!

            Indeed so!

Especially after the discovery of mr. Bowyer and mr. McCarthy!

As far as I can tell the only things that had immediate value would be clothing....it seems many of these women pawned and bought back and pawned and bought back as a life style....could explain Marys lack of fancy clothes on November 9th. Maybe they were only behind 28d because of that, who knows how long they had not paid full rent there.

Thats a key point too....if she has a history of being careless about paying rent before, we should be looking for that behavior again....and getting loaded without money on a potential "work" night instead of earning some back rent seems like that to me.

Both her and Barnett have been kicked out of places for the same offenses....who knows how close McCarthy might have been to that. Might be indelicate to suggest he was about to throw her sorry a** out at her murder Inquest.

              Cheers all
