    Hi Lynn...didn't mean he'd taken a tumble...just scuttled across to Liz, grabbing her and snarling Lipski over his shoulder perhaps...if that's what he called out...

    All the best

        Is it possible that by screams Schwartz meant that she screamed something? She could have 'screamed' the word "stop" or "let go", etc. They don't have to be actual screams, they could have been small cries instead.

        Schwartz wouldn't know what she had cried out since he apparently didn't speak a word of English so he explained it the best way he could.

        Cheers

          Yet another interesting thread.

          Worth another look perhaps.

          Let's bump this up!

            It seems we have three possibilities:

            1. She screams after hitting the ground;

            2. She screams as she is being thrown;

            3. She screams as she is being pulled. As you suggest, if she was in pain, you would expect it to be a loud scream. But the three screams don't seem to jive with one or two.

            The oddity of three screams as opposed to one or maybe two, can probably be explained by what is occurring to Liz immediately after she hits the deck.

            Abberline: ... he stopped to look at the man he saw ill-using the deceased woman.

            The man continued to ill-use her. While she is on the ground he jabs, gropes, pinches, pulls, kicks, punches, slaps. Any or all of the above. In other words, she doesn't just scream as a result of being felled, but also due to her continuing mistreatment.

            Having reached the gateway, Schwartz watches all of this. From which side of the street?

              Is any of that mentioned by Schwartz?

                Impossible to tell.

                The scenario I'm offering is a way of making sense of the three (or more?) screams. I'm saying that these screams - possibly better described as yelps - were a result of her ongoing mistreatment. I doubt the man responsible was her killer, and he was almost certainly not the Ripper.
