    Did you read Fisherman's post with about as much care as you habitually read mine?

    "It was a common thing for the women living in these tenements to bring men home with them. They could do so as they pleased."

    QED in all respects, I'd say.

    And even if Cox did prefer to service her customers on the cold wet November streets for half the price of an indoor romp, it changes nothing about other tenants' 'common' habit of bringing men home, but hers may actually have saved her life on this occasion.

      I know, Caz, I never said it did.

      It might, however, be used to counter some of the knee-jerk assumptions that prostitutes with private accommodation must always have been in the habit of bringing strangers home for business.

        It's rather more useful in countering knee-jerk assumptions that they invariably serviced their clients on the streets and in all weathers, Ben.

          Absolutely, Gareth, although I haven't seen too many of those being bandied about. I may have missed them, having been double-eventing more than I've been Miller's Courting of late.
