I have no trouble with a choice to adopt a new title, but am troubled by attempts to retrospectively change history, but that may be just me.

I agree. That could be a very slippery slope.

I am a big fan of the blue plaques. I am sure I was not the only youngster who loved spotting them on days out, then rushing home to find out more about the people who's names were unknown to me. I believe they contributed a lot to my lifelong love of history.
