The Telegraph report (13-Sep) of the inquest says that when Richardson returned with the dessert knife he said "as it was not sharp enough he had borrowed another one at the market".

This appears to contradict what he said earlier about cutting the shoe on the step. Or should it be interpreted to mean that he did some cutting on the step and completed it with another knife later?

How did he check the lock on the basement door without going into the yard?

If he checked the lock he would have seen the body if the body was there. I'm still going with Dr Phillips on this which means I think the body was there. And I don't think he checked the lock. I think at most he pushed open the door a little as he gave a quick look down and right to see if anything was obviously disturbed in the yard. And then he turned and left. That's if he was there at all. Nota bene guys, I'm not saying this is fact. I'm just giving my opinion. I don't find Richardson's fairy story in the least bit credible.

    Isn't this one of Richardh's 3D reconstructions?

Might have seen the body through the fence which was in poor repair.

And given there's hardly any room there between the houses, you'd hear & see a lot more than a faint cry of 'no' what with all the goings-on.
JR: I saw the body two or three minutes before the doctor came. I was then in the adjoining yard.

Does that imply Richardson could not only see straight over the fence, but could actually look at a body lying on the ground on the other side, not far from the fence?

    If no, was he lying?
If yes, then what might Cadosch have seen if the murder was occurring when he goes outside the second time?

The fence was between 5'6" and 6'.

The top of 27's door is possibly 4" taller than 29's.Depends on how they were hung in 1888.

Apparently the fence was in very poor condition.

But the flag in front of the 'third step' was still in place. And looks the same as the one above it. So was put there at the same time. If soil and grass had built up it would have been covered.
