I would imagine it was not connected with Amelia as the page number seems to be missing on Henrys page ?

    Registration District: Birkenhead
    Inferred County: Cheshire
    Volume Number: 8a

You only need one name, and the registry entry (parish+volume+page), which appears to be there. Strange they couldn't find the spouse though.

Do you order through the passport office? They're usually cheaper than local councils.

I believe this is Ann's BMD record for her second marriage. Can certificates still be ordered with "spouse not found"?

Here are the BMD Death records for her sister, Ann, and brother, Henry.

    Hi Roy,

Henry Kelly's age on the 1881 census is a transcriber's error. In
1891, the name was misread. Here's the same family in 1891:

    1891 England Census

    Name:
    Henry Helley
    [Henry Kelly]

    Age:
    41

    Estimated Birth Year:
    abt 1850

    Relation:
    Head

    Spouse's Name:
    Emmaline Helley

    Gender:
    Male

    Where born:
    Liverpool, Lancashire, England

    Civil Parish:
    Everton

    Ecclesiastical parish:
    St Cuthbert

    County/Island:
    Lancashire

    Country:
    England

    Street Address: Hartnup Street

    Registration District:
    West Derby

    Sub-registration District:
    North Everton

    ED, institution, or vessel:
    30

    Piece:
    2957

    Folio:
    28

    Page Number:

    Age

    Henry Helley 41
    Emmaline Helley 36
    Emmaline Helley 16
    William H Helley 14

Emmaline is on the 1901 and 1911 census, widowed.

    Brother Henry

    Good evening MayBea,

From this thread, thank you - her brother Henry, born 1848, and in the Kelly family census 51 & 61 and he married Emmeline Gould, both of Horatio St.

Is this his new family in the 1881 census at that street? (click) (another age problem?) And do you see him in any further returns please?

    Roy

The idea of Mary Kelly going home, wherever that is, to leave her child with relatives, isn't out of the question.

This is what Casebook member, Madam Red, wrote about Mary Kelly in 2010:

...if she had a small child when Davies supposedly died, and if Mary wasn't able to care for him/her, then she was faced with at least four-ok, five options:

    1) Leave the child with relatives.

    2) Orphanage, although only "respectable" children from "respectable" parents were allowed in.

    3) Workhouse.

    4) Paid Adoption, risking your offspring's life on the chance that this caregiver is a Baby Farmer.

    5) Infantcide.

The only record of Mary Wilson after 1881 is the birth register of her son, William John Wilson, registered in October of 1887 in Liverpool.

She ostensibly disappears from the records after that, presumably dying sometime between October of 1887 and August of 1890, the time her daughter was admitted to an orphanage.

    Entry was:
Christina Wilson, admitted on 13 aug 1890 weighing 59lb, born 1880, Church of England, admitted to Girls Home No. 4, then transferred to no.20, nearest relation grandmother Mrs Kelly of 2 Sparling St, Orphan, only once admitted to home, discharged 28/9/1892 weighing 79lb, taken by Miss Morse to Mr Graham, Lake Road, Ambleside, Westmorland.
Christina's father died in January of 1890. Ann Dixon died in the first quarter of 1888.

Mary Wilson's sister, Amelia, was a milk maid who married a milk dealer in Birkenhead in 1877. George Dixon died in 1880 but not before they had a son George the same year.

    1881 Census

    Tranmere Cheshire
    Birkenhead
    101 Peel St.
    John Dixon 65
    Ann Dixon 68
    Ellen Dixon 14
Ann A. Dixon daughter in law, widow, 29 milk dealer (seller)
    George Dixon 1
    Mary Kelly 60 visitor

Ann had George the same year Mary had Christina so I'm betting they visited each other. Their mother was visiting in Birkenhead in 1881.

If Mary did go, then she may or may not be the MJK in Birkenhead that retired policeman George West tipped the London police about, the one who was there with her mother and begging with a child.

Her other brother William had already gotten married and emigrated to Australia by 1866.

She'd have been 11 when he married and 12 when he left the country, so brother Henry was really the only brother she knew.

P.S. By 1871, cotton broker, Augustus Agelasto, was in London and Angelica and her second husband, John Peyton, were living next door to her parents on Horatio street. By 1881, she is living in Westminster on the same street as her brother, tailor/fixer tiler Robert Gould/Gold.

It would be helpful if you could give a brief precis of this story of Jack and what is the royal connection?

As Mary and John Kelly are the commonest Irish Names, why do you think Wilson is Mary Kelly? Is there evidence she lived in the East End in the 1880s or Wales?

When did Mary Jane Wilson die, has a death been found? Where was she living? What was her last recorded address in a census record.

There is no evidence that MK had a child, from anyone one who knew her. I am sure that Barnett might have mentioned it, or McCarthy.

There is no connection with Liverpool, none of her friends mentioned Liverpool as a place she knew.
This MK is quite a few years older and seems to have lead a very different life.

It is interesting, but some things need to be clarified.

    Miss Marple
