I suppose, playing devil's advocate, Mike *could* have had the diary long enough to have studied it well, maybe he'd worked it all out during his research. It doesn't marry up to the idea of Bongo being borderline illiterate, but he could decipher the entire diary with only a few words left uncertain. Good on him. Mike Barrett catch 22 again. Too stupid to fake the diary, smart enough to decipher and research it in full detail.
Admittedly, it's not every line that's hard to read, but it's a fair observation. There's no uncertainty in the Barrett typescript.
