Thought I'd better highlight some more "letters" on the partition:

    1. The lowercase Greek epsilon;

    2. The lowercase Greek pi;

    3. The initials "J" and "W".
    Kind regards, Sam Flynn

    • Behold the writing on the wall
And some say it's not there at all
We twitter this, we e-mail that
We launch upon a round of chat

But in the end I train my eye
Upon one letter which I spy
The W in blood was seared
When William Bull got drunk and wierd.

      • Oh no! I spelt the weird word wrong
I feel like Brando in a thong
Exposed my faults for all to see
Like driving round with Paul (Henri)

But while we're on the LA scene
It's Lower 'Bama which I mean
Where Florrie lass was born and bred
        Or damn torpedoes full ahead!

She traded julips mint and sweet
For life with addled James the creep
He ate the 'sic which made him puke
And rode the train to his rebuke

He roomed in Middlesex the street
Or was he going there to meet
A sexy girl named Mary Jane
And on together they raised Cain!

Methinks he passed out on the train
And roomed somewhere on Pudding Lane
Then as hisself began to droop
He plopped his head down in his soup.

        • Alas Sam, the only one I can see is "pi." This means either my eyes are bad, or some people see whatever they want to see.

I've highlighted the "epsilon" and the "JW" below, Christine:

            ... the latter, I think!

              Sam,

I note that you have no problem highlighting the three examples you do. Just for completeness, would you highlight the significant markings for us too, please?

If you can see epsilon, pi, and 'JW', you'll have no problem with the 'FM' I originally highlighted, I assume.

              Kindest regards,

              • Not at all, Sooth... although what makes that more "significant" than the other blemishes (or what makes it an "FM" as opposed to an "FH" for that matter) is up for grabs. Given that the "JW" is much, much bigger than the "FM", perhaps you should be asking a different question anyway?
                Kind regards, Sam Flynn

Hmm ... I can't say I was particularly surprised by your highly selective visual acuity deficiency.

                              Minstrel!

I meant no offence - indeed, when I don't respond, it's usually because someone's been distinctly cleverer than I, and in moving swiftly on the gnawing pain subsides a little.

As you are the Casebook's official wandering troubadour, I would like to suggest that you periodically summarise the latest posts in further witty, rhyming verse, preferably poking fun at Ben, Sam Flynn, The Omlorian, Ally (Queen of Mean), and anyone else who's been nasty to me.

On the other hand, you could also write prose lavishly praising my growing band of admirers, as well as the many Ripperettes I have wooed (most, in truth, probably excluding the QoM). I suggest you start with babybird (all of them, or just 67), and Mrs Fiddemont from that small island over the pond. I would suggest Caz Morris, but she seems strangely resistant to my erstwhile wooing.

Are you up for it, Minstrel?

                              • Never mind the bollocks, who agrees with me that Soothsayer writes in the most readable, flowing, sweetly composed and, frankly, best prose on this entire website?
