I tend toward caution on this. Something doesn’t smell right.

Named as a barber, hairdresser and he ran at Mary with… scissors. Seems a bit neat? What is ‘ghastly’ about a pair of scissors.

It also seems strange that this educated man uses ‘hung’ instead of the correct ‘hanged’?

How come Kosminski was roaming around with our Vicar talking as if his being the ripper was a proven? Was he the only one in the East End that knew this? Or did everyone know but they had forgiven him?

Fishy imo.

PS. Maybe I could add the ‘almost’ cliché of a cockney fruit barrow for scenery and a bigoted old priest calling Kosminski’s non-English talk as ‘devil tongue.’

Google Aaron Kosminski….go to his Wikipedia page……the very first line…..

Aaron Kosminski (born Aron Mordke Kozmiński; 11 September 1865 – 24 March 1919) was a Polish barber, hairdresser, and suspect in the Jack the Ripper case.

And he just happened to be walking around with scissors?

Maybe he was.

If there letter is genuine, and maybe it is, Reverend Dott certainly wasn’t talking about Kosminski as the ripper though.

It's not clear to me how a person like Kosminski goes from JTR at age 23 to embicil at age 30. I dont see him with a sharp pair of scissors cutting throats. Although finding any sort of writing from 1888 referencing a JTR suspect is very cool. Kosminski does not add up to me as JTR.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Aaron Kosminski was sent to the asylum in February 1891, and the letter allegedly dates to July 1889, so there is no conflict, unless one wants to argue that Anderson's suspect was a different Kosminski who was also a hairdresser.

The Mirror articles makes a strange assertion:

"Sceptics of the Kosminski theory claim that the Polish barber could not have committed the killings because he was in a psychiatric hospital. But the letter appears to show this not to be the case."

Where the writer came up with this strange idea is anyone's guess. I've never seen a critic of the Kosminski theory make this suggestion.
