  • H.H. Holmes

Please allow me to state that I do not hold with this theory, but I put it out there because apparently others do. I was watching a documentary on Harry H. Holmes (real name Herman Mudgett) which postulated that he was Jack the Ripper in addition to Killing several people in Chicago during the World's Fair and then murdering one of his accompluices children and said accomplice (Pitzle or Pitzer). Apparently Mudgett's great-granson believes that he is Jack the Ripper offering the usual "evidence" we've seen here; "He could have went to London in1888" etc.
I dispute the assertion because Holmes basically killed for money without exception. Even in doing away with his accomplice and the children insurance was involved. However, I offer Harry up for the purposes of discussion and enlightenment. Enjoy!

I think if the Holmes House of Horror means anything, it's that the man was a big fan of torture. Huge fan. Had the Ripper victims been living at the time of the mutilations, I could maybe be persuaded, but there weren't.

He was also a big "waste not, want not" guy. I don't see him leaving that much in the way of remains behind.

I saw this same program. It's interesting but, and I'm not any kind of exert as we have on here, these are the reasons I find it not as compelling to believe.

      1. No physical proof he was in London at the time of the Whitechapel murders.

      2. He murdered for fraudulent insurance claims.

      3. His murders didn't resemble the Rippers.

Those are my theories. I guess they're pretty good but I'd love to see what anyone else has to say.

Oh, 4. Anyone who writes a sensational book on the Ripper stands to make money, which right away makes it suspicious to me, lol.

Jeff Mudgett and Rob House appeared on a radio show together recently. I listened to the first two hours with just Rob, but didn't bother listening to the final hour with Mudgett. I have his e-book and don't recommend it.

Darn, I'm sorry I missed that. Would love to have heard what Rob House had to say. He goes for facts and is honest.

Can you recall any of his points. What was the name of the show (maybe I can find it on you tube or something).
