I think we might be reading a little too much into our suspicions about an aardvark. My wise old grandmother also used to say, "People are very lazy these days - a little aardvark never killed anyone". At least I think that's what she said. On the other hand, she didn't say anything about a big aardvark ....

Whoever the fiend was, I do believe he took the apron piece with him.
This leads me to conclude he was no more than five foot tall.
He didn't want to be caught short.
