One thing Pierre has repeatedly stated was that the suspect was known then but not well known now, so that would rule out MM.

            Abby

That has always been open to debate about well known to who?

Craig and I both took the view when matching, that in the 1890's early 1900's he was abit of a celebrity, so was well known then. Not so now!

Certainly the average man or woman would have no idea who he was now?
only those into this area of research and maybe students of Scotland yard and policing in general are aware of him.

So it could be a police official from London, Ireland, Scotland, Yarborough, wherever... just as long as they wanted to embarass the Metropolitan Police, right?

                I guess so,

remember not just the met, but the city police too and the city of london corporation.

if found out it would embarrass at least two institutions and several family’s,

so a few hundred thousand at least to chose from.

Now, I wonder what this thread is doing in the FAQ...

                  Are you an admin, Craig?

And Steve and you have been working together just as he told me.

Pierre I asked Craig the very same question on Saturday morning.

He said he had originally posted in the wrong area, which if you read the post in FAQ does make some sense, it looks as if he tried to delete the content.

The fact that I worked with Craig earlier in the year on his research into police officers is no secret, we did post several posts giving details of the work.

                        Hi Pierre

I was in FAQ section trying to find out how to start a new thread and entered the thread there by mistake.

Tried to delete the thread but Quick Draw GUT had posted.

I've asked Admin to delete the thread

                          Thanks el

Pierre has now denied it was MM. I think it's probably a police official that if pierre ever does name him will be someone not even us on here will really know about. I still think it might be someone that has some kind of family or other relationship to Pierre.

                            Hi Abby

I am sure the name will never be given.

while one must of course accept a denial at face value, remember that it was denied he was a police official too at one stage.

you may be right, who knows.

Also Steve you have to remember that at one point Pierre mentioned that the individual he had in mind wanted all women to fear him. Somehow that never seemed to fit MM, but to be truthful I am unaware of such a misogynist among the police officials. In fact, the only one I heard of (unless you consider the female prostitute hating "Jack" as a supreme misogynist, or such murderers as Deeming, Chapman, Cream, and Bury, and even Mrs. Pearcy with their female victims) was Doc Tumblety, who is not a policeman!

I still do not believe that when Pierre started his first thread (of more than I can count) titled "I think I've found him" or similar, that he had a suspect.

He has, in my opinion, been making it up as he goes (he has also been reading a lot of dissertations, in spite of his disdain for Ripperologists, going on what he posts), a bit like he has with his qualifications, remember the MA in sociology, that morphed into a MA in History.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.
