Well... For me, not much. If they were truly "casual" photos, then maybe they would, but they're so clearly carefully posed studio portraits, that I don't think much can or should be read into them. Every time I've had a picture taken in that situation, the photographer's told me where & how to sit, where to look, etc., once to hold a tacky silk rose I never would have picked out.

Arthur Wilson owned the vast Wilson Line which was one of the worlds largest maritime groups. He was former Lord Mayor of Hull and was often seen in the company of Prince Eddy, and Prince Albert. He was also a charector witness at one of Richard Stephenson's trials. Richard Stephenson was Robert D'Onston Stephenson's older brother.

Tranby Croft still stands and his currently a girls school.

        Hi Mike,

I'm just curious is the girl school raises money for itself with a gambling night?

        Best wishes,

        Jeff

It's a very expensive girls school, so I am not sure how they raise money, it's possible that they don't need to with the prices they charge.

            Hello Khanada,
Thanks for your observations on the Druitt photographs and possibly why he is not looking at the camera.
You are correct, most people were posed beforehand by the photographer.
However, one of the photos, the cricket group one, looks more informal, and in that too, Druitt is facing away from the camera.
I know there were fashions in photos, and sports group shots - particularly of young bucks-frequently turned out to be exhibitions of macho.(With arms folded, hands pushing out the biceps, to look bigger.Sleeves rolled up,etc ).
And especially, not smiling.... JOHN RUFFELS.

The group photos I have including Druitt show him posing casually, even clowning a bit in one.

Andy, I think you'll find he was telling a joke in Latin.

I never had Latin. Greek, Hebrew, German, French, yes. Latin, no.

Maybe his joke is based on a version of Caesar's Gallic Wars:

"All Kellys are divided into these parts..."

No wonder the others are hardly amused. They are probably telling the would-be stand up comic not to quit his day job.

                                Hi Jeff

As far as Monty's concerned, not so much Beyond The Fringe as Beyond The End Of The Pier.
