Blimey! What a total embuggerance this is! - I can't get the idea of taking a few car loads of 'tourists' into White's Row Car Park - driving to the top opposite- well you know where- and doing an aerial view out of my mind!!!!

Never say die Frip!.......You don't mean a latchet gate in a big gate do you???? He He! I must take one of those empty shops just down from the car park and sell some grapes from my front window- JPdL would love that- nothing like authenticity I say!!!!

Suzi - off-topic... where's your Facebook account gone? Lyn can't find you and says you're not listed on anyone else's account.

White's Row has nothing to do with the murder site which is in the unnamed service road to the north (that used to be Dorset St).

Access to White's Row is as normal. Dorset Street is a no-no.

Sorry, I guess I've made a mistake then, so thanks for pointing it out. I thought the service road and White's Row were one and the same. Was going by the map in "Uncovering Jack the Ripper's London" by Richard Jones and Sean East, on which the murder site is along a road marked by dotted lines instead of solid ones- the only one on the map that is like that- just off of White's, which I took to mean a street that is no longer physically there (Dorset). My bad. (And I've been there three times!)

The City have now barred all public access to the service road that was Dorset Street PERMANENTLY
What is this service road named?

                Regards,

                Adam

The street itself has no name nowadays, but it's the little road that runs between the Crispin Street refuge {as was} and Commercial Street just to the south of Brushfield Street and immedately north of White's Row car park. That's all that's left of the once notorious throughfare.

The closest you can give it a name is 'The service road for the London Fruit Exchange next to White's Row car park'.

Or, if you're De Locksley, Mitre Square.

wow - thats really annoying - I usually walk through there after The Ten Bells - never actually tried going into the car park and looking over - doing it that way is possible presumably?

Latest development - the pavement directly outside the relevant Goulston Street doorway has just been widened at that point. It's added about another two feet and is about five feet long, right at the point of the door. Good news for me, as that's more standing ground for the tourists.

Just found this on an architecture blog.

"Aedas are currently working on the redesign of Whitechapel Station. The project involves the station redesign providing interchange with the existing East London line and London underground’s District and Hammersmith & City Lines, together with a new ticket hall. "

Just look at one of the ideas:
