I think Levys revenge motive was combined with ego and humiliation. He went from being a successful shrewd businessman to a convicted criminal lunatic virtually overnight and then had to endure the conditions of a Class B prison and then an Asylum. He would have been introduced to a drug regimen in the Asylum while suffering the onset of neurosyphilis. Imagine then returning home in disgrace. Would he have something to prove? He also returned to find his mother dying of cancer. She would die in May of 1888. It could be that Levy was a ticking bomb and his last grip on sanity ended with his mother's death. He would prove he was a Master Butcher and still shrewd.
Jacob Levy died from syphilis. He was in an Asylum where drug control was mandatory. Drugs can trigger psychotic behavior. He had the same barrister as Israel Lipski. I honestly don't think Levy had anything to lose and his escapes were more of a game of how well he knew his own streets.

Levy is in my top five persons of interest, but I would counsel against becoming a single suspect advocate.

Your trying to make a suspect fit here. And I'm afraid with Levy your trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I'm not a single advocate as I'm currently reading about Maybrick and Bury thanks to you good folks in this forum. However I am a logical thinker and believe the gap analysis method can get one closer to the answer. What I've said regarding Levy contains little conjecture. He had the skill, he lived there his entire life, he was humiliated , he had family in Wentworth buildings, and he definately had an axe to grind.
I would argue these are round pegs that fit into these gap holes. Risk and motive would be part of that gap analysis. There are many gaps but my belief at this point is that the bodies combined with the post mortem reporting, along with the Eddowes murder, hold the key to this killer.
I'm halfway through the Diary of Jack the Ripper and what strikes me is that the Diary seems to reflect Ripper letters and Press information. I entered the Maybrick exercise with an open mind but motive makes little sense to me so far.

Fishmans book East End 1888 paints an interesting picture of unequal justice relative to crimes. For example assault appears to have less impact than theft? Property more valuable than the human. While the Jewish leadership proclaimed no Jew would mutilate a human, the Gentiles proclaimed no Englishman could commit the Whitechapel murders. They only kill themselves for 2 pence?

This is a Mediaeval and later holdover, as property was much more financially vulnerable then. Human beings are replaceable, they often used to die young, but property takes time and effort. The anti-Jewish rhetoric is very old too and hard to shrug off; especially when they were known for being 'sweaters' in England, previously unknown in the country prior to large continental immigration, and thus treating folks as objects to be exploited. Many did this but it became notable in poorer communities of which the Jewish community was one.
