Amazing! And highly credible. I always thought that these old European royal families had dark secrets. I've seen 'Countess of Blood', I know how it works.

So, what went wrong? Do you have any theories? Or..... she couldn't still be alive.... could she???

Oh yes, and the Prime Minister of the day didnn't know the meaning of Magna Marta in English. in fact it means, as everyone knows, "a big milk float".

Sometimes it feels that long.

On the "why them," I did note that if JTR wanted to be able to fish out a uterus in the dark, a middle-aged woman is probably his best bet, because she is likely to have been pregnant, and to have benign fibroids, but not to have any post-menopausal shrinkage of the uterus, and less likely than a younger woman to actually be pregnant (fertility drops with age). In other words, to have a uterus that is, compared to younger or older women, easy to locate by touch.

That would mean that if he was fishing for uteri, sometimes he missed. It would probably also mean that he had either a little book-learning, or experience, or both.

And, he may really have wanted to avoid targeting a woman who was pregnant. That sounds odd, but there are people who murder doctors who perform abortions, so go figure. Mutilating a woman's abdomen, and finding a fetus could be a mood-killer, not out of regret or guilt, but just because it brought another figure into the equation-- he might have seen it as competition, who knows?

I don't know if any of that is true, it's just as far as I'm going to go in suggesting that the women were targeted for any other reason then they got in his line of sight.

The product of serious new research in the royal archives and the Tower - which as you know is only a "stone's throw" from the murder scenes.

The lead came from an almost casual reference in the Abberline diaries, (see Melvyn Fairclough's book) in which George Abberline records the Prince as saying (verbatim):

" Gor blimey me old ****, I'm wearin' the crown 'cos me and my make 'ere, Lord Esher, have been to a rave dahn the East End. It was rippin' fun. We managed half a pentateuch tonight..."

After that, my theory was just downhill all the way.

Although the fact that Edward, Prince of Wales is known to have been a high ranking black magician, and the bodies make the shape of St Edward's Crown (with it's dipped arches)which he would later wear, do make one think. Perhaps he was seeking to revive a flagging libido....

Sherlock you post like you are fishing for information. Casebook does have a section filled with essays and articles detailing the crimes, victims, suspects, and popular theories. Why not take a little time and explore them? Also much of the literature on JtR is available at used book stores for amazingly low prices. I have given as little as 1 cent for a very good copy of hardcover novels. Check and see. There are over a hundred JtR books available at any given time from amazon, Barns and Noble, ABE, Alibris, etc, Check them out. You may fill a bookshelf at a low cost to you. Some are on kindle or nook.
