I thought that this had already be touched upon in this thread. The colour version on the Casebook site is the 1888 police colour facsimile and not the actual letter.

Thanks. That's what I assumed, but was checking, to be sure.

Anyone familiar with the 'Jack the Ripper' letters in MEPO 3/142 will know that these annotated sheets bearing date/posting details and reference numbers were attached to the letters at the time they were received at Scotland Yard.

    Dear Boss Letter Backing Sheet

I have had some discussion with Keith Skinner over the Dear Boss letter and its return to New Scotland Yard in 1987. Keith noted that the image I reproduced of the envelope in this thread was cropped and did not show the full backing page to which the envelope and letter were attached. Keith thought that it might be nice to show everyone the whole letter and backing sheet in its original form, with annotation, so here it is. (Image - Evans/Skinner Crime Archive).

Precisely! :-) By the by, I got his bank account and everything, courtesy of Debs. I was hoping for your help pertaining to Rachkovsky, what with the Palo Alto files and stuff.
But first I have to take care of some really boring bureaucratical sh*t all day today (on 4 different godamn matters!!), which I'm not looking forward to in the least...

    Hello Maria.

"Well, the promulgator he was anyway, but was he in on the loop?'

    Well, hopefully we'll find out.

"I might incorporate something from this in my search for financial records"

Indeed? Thanks. Look for a cheque made out to Charles Le Grand, say late September, early October 1888. What a find that would be.

    Cheers.

Actually he's pretty well-known, also for his possible involvement in another Diary.

Do you have anything else in mind besides newspaper searches? I might incorporate something from this in my search for financial records, if you wish. I'll email you specifics about this, only I need time. (Yesterday I was out all night on a looong date, today I'm taking care of bureaucracy for 4 different deadlines, and tomorrow I'm running urgent errands, then need to get on a plane again.)

    legal difficulties

Hello Trade and Maria. Here is part 1 of a snippet from the "Decatur Morning Review" May 3, 1891, discussing his "legal difficulties."

If this is old news, forgive me.

    Cheers.

    Hello Maria.

"And you're looking at Hurlbert vs. Bulling/Moore?"

Yup. And if no match, I shall investigate just how close he worked with the other 2 lads.

    Cheers.

    strand-ed

Hello Trade. Another lovely find. Thanks.

One of those clubs seems to have been the "Beefsteak Club" on the Strand. I have been informed by a couple of Ripper researchers that it was only a 5 minute walk from the club to another noted denizen of the Strand.

    Cheers.

Time is on my side--yes, it is.

    Hello Maria.

"Lynn, are you and TradeName referring to William Henry Hurlbert?"

    We are indeed.

"You can't be seriously considering him as an author for Ripper letters???!!"

We are. At least, the promulgator. Time will tell.

    Cheers.
