  • Edmund Farrow & Berner Street

    Hi,

First post to this forum, so if I have placed this in the wrong section I apologise.

As we know Edmund Farrow was the Licencee of the George IV in Berner Street. Does anyone have any recollection of finding him also running the Nelson? In 1887 his marriage cert shows him living at 46 Berner Street (I think it says 46, if anyone think it says something different please let me know), which was the Nelson, with the occupation of Licensed Victualler. If he was a barman there he would state that as an occupation. Also previously he ran another pub in Kensington, so wouldn't step back to being a barman. He then moved on to run the Weavers Arms in 1891.

Also his wife, Laura Kerry was shown living at number 48, which I think was the chandlers. Anyone know if it rented rooms out?

I would appreciate any help adding any more detail to this pair.

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi Andy

I would say that was number 48 for both.

I`m guessing that whilst running The George IV he must have rented a room at 48, where his future missus. Laura also lived.

      Hi Andy

If memory serves me well, I think a man named Hagen was the licensee in the Nelson. The Nelson was numbered 46 Berner Street.

There was a Henry Morris at #48 in the 1888 electorals.

                So would I.
I won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.

Louis Hagens ran the Nelson. Edmond Farrow (or Farrows) ran the George IV at 68 Berner Street.

                  Yours truly,

                    Hey Tom,

Welcome back. Good to see you posting again. Where have you been?

They're trying to beat up on me on the Stride threads. You KNOW who I mean.
