  • Hi I am new on here some observations.

Hi to everyone and compliments on a rather excellent site.

I have been sitting in the background for over a year and have realy enjoyed this site.
I first had a interest in the case from a early age over 35 years ago and read what books were available at the time.
I recall Stephen Knights conspiracy book which is a excellent read but not the verdict I beleive, but still a enjoyable book.

While I don,t have a definitive opinion of whom JTR was I have my favourites as probally most of the regulars do.

I Will try and contribute as best I can but no expert.

Some general questions and observations I have.

One that sticks out is the recent application to have the Metropolitan police files opened under the freedom of imformation act , by someone who has taken the case as far as he can through the judicial system.
This was denied to protect imformants.

Does any one have any idea at all what is in these files?.

Any other poser /questions I have , I will post in the relavent forums.

    thank you and enjoy.

    Hello, Paul.

    Welcome to the boards.

As far as I know, all of the Met. files pertaining to the case are available. I think you must be thinking of Trevor Marriott's efforts to have Special Branch's files made public. These deal mostly with terrorism and in particular the "Irish question". The official reason given for denying publication seems to be that family members of informants might be at risk of retribution if these details were made public.

No doubt Trevor himself could give you a more informed opinion on this but it is unclear whether or not these files would shed much light on the Ripper mystery.

    Best wishes,
    Steve.

      Steve.
While it's perfectly clear, on the other hand, that some would have us believe that the ultimate and most disturbing truth lies there.

Hello David. And there is only ONE way to put those rumours to rest.

        Cheers.

              Hi Sally

I have tried that URL a couple of times and have not got anywhere. Is it the right one?

              Thanks

Yes of course, just like the great hullabaloo over the Mythical Magical Aberconway. Such a great big old fuss over seeing and since seeing it...why the silence has been deafening. And now the conspiracy set must pin their hopes on some other far off document that they have to/ must /absolutely see and cause an absolutely rude stink in the pursuit of, only to fall completely silent once it's out there and they are proven, once again, to be chasing pure bunk.

It's like deja vu all over again!

Storms in teacups can be mildly diverting.

Hello David. Actually, if ever revealed, I think they would, at most, say something about Kelly--no others.

                      Cheers.

                        ledgers

Hello Ally. Well, as you recall, I did not put much stock in ANY of the MM. Nice to have, and MAY have cleared up some discussion, but I don't think it revealed anything about the case.

Of course, there are theories floating about, pertaining to authors, etc. But I don't care much about those either.

The SB ledgers? Well, the unredacted ones have spelled out a few titbits that COULD be further investigated.

                        Cheers.

Hi Lynn. Why would they say something about Kelly ? Or rather : why do you think they would ?
