    The Satchell's Lodging House

    Hi all
I'm looking for any kind of info about the Satchell's Lodging House, 19 George Street. For example, how many people it could accomodate ? Were men allowed there ? etc etc

That was the place where Emily Horsnell died, where Tabram used to doss, and where Farmer was supposedly attacked.
It's also worth noting that Emma Smith lodged at 18 George Street.

    Lma

Hello David. That is an interesting angle.

Have you checked the LMA to see if they have deposited any information?

    Cheers.

      Hi Lynn
Hello David. That is an interesting angle.
Quite so. Especially since Horsenell and Smith (who lodged au numéro 18, though) both died of peritonitis.

Have you checked the LMA to see if they have deposited any information?
      I haven't, because I don't know what LMA is. Shame ?

David, don't know if this will help but there are some figures shown here in a post by John Bennett who researched a few of these lodging houses, including Satchell's, the subject of the entry:

Discussion for general Whitechapel geography, mapping and routes the killer might have taken. Also the place for general census information and "what was it like in Whitechapel" discussions.

Thanks so much, Debs, there really is nobody like you !
Eh, John Satchell also owned the 32 Flower and Dean Street...
For the record, he was the excellent Christian that let Emily Horsnell die like an animal in his dive.

            hold on

Hello David. So sorry. That's the London Metropolitan Archive. Sometimes I am astonished at the wealth of material they have accumulated.

If you do get in touch with them, be prepared for a LONG wait.

            Cheers.

What do you mean 'fast becoming'?

Debs is one of the best, up there with Skinner.

Where did you get that photo of Stewart coming out of the shower?
