On certain tv programmes, one can choose the guests at a dinner party, up to 6 at a time. Should I hold a dinner party, within the confines of this case, then two rules must be established. Truth at all times, and no hiding of information.
Around my table therefore, I would choose the following:-
James Monro, George Bagster Phillips, John Troutbeck, Wynn Baxter, Daniel Halse and "George Hutchinson".
That should sort the wheat from the chaff, methinks.
Please note Sir Robert Anderson would NOT be invited.
best wishes

Accountability? ....
I think you're getting greedy, Phil. Not in respect to food, but to guests. Six seems excessive.
Sickert's choice, however, made me think about why I didn't choose Abberline. Seems like an obvious choice, but he didn't occur to me. I suppose it's because, although he was a hard-working copper, I don't think he was any closer to a solution for the mystery than we are now.
Dinner with Ostrog - nah, then you'd have to make sure all the silverware was still there after he leaves.
As for the time machine part of this thread - I've always said that I'd love to be standing in front of 13 Miller's Court to see who comes out. But then again, I'd also love to see exactly what happened on Berner Street.
If it's a choice between the two, I think I'd go for Berner Street.
What about finding out who Jack was, then going back even further in time, snatching him away as a baby and giving him to loving and caring foster parents?
Okay, if it works and he grows up to be a lovable and respectable fellow, the world would lack an interesting mystery.
If I could have dinner with anyone I would like to sit down and eat with Frederick Abberline. So little is known about him, and it would be so intersting to get his take on the case. I doubt I could get all my questions for him in in just one meal though, but it still would be very interesting for me.
Hello Maria. I have recently found out that we may get to talk with Wess--or at least Rombro. The next Arbeter Fraint (Oct 5) is supposed to contain an account of the WCM up to that point. Hope they were not using hyperbole.

Hi RedB, save your dinner for someone else, his take on the case is widely exposed in his 1903 interviews. It's not worth a fish & chips, is it ?
