Inspector Abberline in the new Wolfman film...

Pretty cool portrayal by Hugo Weaving. The movie itself is solid though. Anyone else catch it?
    Scarlett (2010) (Completed)

Witness a modernized retelling of London's most gruesome mutilation, the murder of Mary Jane Kelly at the hands of the notorious serial killer, Jack the Ripper.

You'll probably like it. I don't know though, I was never really a fan of the Wolfman. I was more a fan of Mr. Hyde and Dracula. I only saw the film for Hugo Weaving and his portrayal as Abberline.

Plus in the movie, the Ripper case is mentioned very briefly.

It was a good movie!!!! Abberline is protrayed as a sane, rational cop who uses logic and scientific investigation.

My verdict, as a horror movie fan, was that it was pretty average. The story was fairly predictable - once a certain revelation came down about halfway through, it wasn't hard to predict how things would turn out. Effects ranged from very poor (the gypsy's bear in particular) to quite good indeed, with some very nice transformation scenes and some creative gore effects. Overall, a watchable film, but a bit of a disappointment since I would have liked a good rejeuvenation of the franchise.

As for Abberline (that's Francis, BTW, not Fred), there's one line to the effect of "Weren't you in charge of the Ripper case a few years back?" intending within the context of the scene to point out his failure in catching the culprit, and beyond that they could have called him Inspector whoever. He's not even called by name again after he introduces himself.

I have to say.. i went into the film ready to hate it.. but when all is said and done it was fun... and well what else do you want out of a Wolfman film right?

and we all must agree... not being an addict was a nice change for Abberline in the movies eh?

isn't the wolfman based on the beast of gevaudin in France where a farmer killed a maneating wolf with a silver bullet?

Last time I spent 15 euros to watch a wolfman movie, it was for that with Nicholson, many full moons ago.
Better use that little money for two pints of Guinness.
