  • Killer of Kelly "alleged to have been found" 1906

I certainly don't remember seeing this before. This alleges that the killer specifically of Kelly was found and put in an asylum. He is described as a businessman in the City of London with a family and of eccentric habits and surgical knowledge.

    Hi Chris,

The article states he was suspected of all the Ripper murders, but that he resembled a man seen in Dorset Street (probably Hutchinson's man). I've seen this before though very recently. Someone posted either this article or one very much like it.

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott

What an interesting article this is. Maybe because he was so important in the City of London, once he was committed to an asylum the case was closed ?

Yes - you can find it here, together with a transcript of the Sunday Chronicle article it was based on:

            Hi Chris, all,

what strikes me in this account is (once again, I'd say, as there are several stories as such) the ambiguous role of the relatives, and that of the asylum (both a "final solution" and a modus vivendi).
In this respect, it reminds us of Anderson's suspect...
Did Anderson serve us a topos à sa sauce...?

            Amitiés,
            David

I should point out that in this instance both Chrises are merely in the footsteps of Karen Trenouth, who I believe originally discovered this article.
